Should the sale of medals be illegal?

I read that somebody is selling a Victoria Cross. Perhaps the person who presumably risked life and limb doesn't mind their family selling the ultimate badge for bravery so that they can pay off some debts or get a bigger house but it seems like another example of how life is made so cheap to me. It's no better than blood money to me.
