Why Are Some U.S. Presidents Referred to by Initials When Others are Not?
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and Lyndon Baines Johnson are usually referred to as FDR, JFK, and LBJ, respectively. Why are they referred to by their initials, when others are not? For example, no one refers to Harry Truman as HST or to Richard Nixon as RMN.
