How does the evidence of sedimentary rock showing the great flood support creationism?

There is no erosion or soil inbetween the layers.If those layers are "millions of years old" then there should be erosion and soil inbetween.The fact is this,there are places where there are thousands of trees and branches standing straight up through many layers that are suppose to be "Millions of years old" each.
