Do you consider Bangkok a safe place for American children?

I'll be taking my 4 children (age 3-13) to Bangkok for 3 months. One issue with regards to their safety that I keep dwelling on is the potential risk that they would be targets of kidnapping (stemming from the problem of child and tourism.) Does this concern bring to mind any thoughts from anyone? General or specific. I have been to Bangkok several times and found it to be a relatively safe and relaxed place. Aside from my wife and my own supervision, we will have a nanny with us to help with the kids. Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts on this matter.
