Explain the difference between the signs and symptoms of local and widespread infection?

Local infections are generally confined to one area of the body. Symptoms can include redness, swelling, pain, itching and localized heat (feels warmer to the touch than surrounding areas). If the infection is local but related to internal organs, then symptoms may vary. Widespread infections will usually present with fever, respiratory issues (cough congestion) body aches and general feeling of malaise If you have a visible infection on your body and you see red, black or blue lines emanating from the site, seek medical attention immediately as this can indicate sepsis and can be fatal.
