My 1 1/2 year old pug is having trouble jumping and climbing stairs?

Before all my fellow animal lovers dig into me, yes we are going to take her to the vet later this week, i just would like an idea of what we will be dealing with. Our female pug that we have had for a year has suddenly began having trouble jumping onto the futon in our living room, she usually loves to jump right up and snuggle while i watch tv or play on my laptop but yesterday when she wanted up she started to whine and seemed to have trouble getting enough push to get up so i picked her up. our futon is only a foot from the floor so i am very worried. she also has trouble going from the front walk to the porch which is even less height than the futon...i think she is too young for hip displasia but am i wrong? or could it be something with her spine? please any help is appreciated, i just want to find a way to help her feel better until we can get her to the vet next week, i hate seeing my poor baby hurting.
